John Bekisz, serving as the Vice President of the Data Center & Critical Infrastructure Practice at Guidepost, brings a wealth of expertise in security design, engineering, and project management. His approach to security consulting is comprehensive, integrating operational, physical, electronic, and cyber vectors to guide and support clients through mitigation selection, development, and implementation of their security programs and projects.
Mr. Bekisz’s has experience as a security consultant, design engineer, systems integrator, program manager, and project executive. Bringing all this work history together, he can uniquely provide clients with a holistic view of their security program from concept to completion. He has provided security consulting, engineering, and project management for public infrastructure projects like airports, mass transit systems, and transportation hubs, critical infrastructure and utilities, commercial real estate including high rises and shopping centers, prisons and corrections, education (K-12 and higher education), and data centers.
He was Project Engineering Director for the CS179 Systems Integration contract bringing Long Island Railroad (LIRR) service to Grand Central Madison as part of the East Side Access project. Mr. Bekisz managed a team responsible for consulting, engineering, and integrating video surveillance systems, electronic access control and door hardware, voice communications systems, security management, SCADA control systems, two-way radio communications, network infrastructure and network monitoring, public address, and digital signage for the largest public infrastructure project in Manhattan.
Mr. Bekisz merges his engineering education with operational experience to provide clients a hands-on consulting approach from concept to completion. Experienced in projects of all scales and criticality, he excels at providing a integrated consultative experience and working closely to match security recommendations with the needs of a business.
Mr. Bekisz is a certified Physical Security Professional by ASIS International and a licensed (not practicing) Professional Engineer. He is a member of the ASIS International North American Board of Directors and teaches a semiannual course on Video Surveillance and Biometrics at the NYPD Police Academy for the Crime Prevention Bureau through ASIS. Also, he developed a virtual learning for ASIS which includes the PSP Virtual Study guide and the SAEC’s Facility Security Design Course. In 2018, he was named one of Security News 20 under 40 Class.
