Laura Merrell brings more than 20 years of experience supporting the growth of professional services organizations focused on global investigations, compliance, forensic accounting, and risk advisory services. She has teamed with law firms, corporate legal departments, financial institutions, and multinational organizations to provide consulting resources for complex regulatory, investigative, and business matters throughout the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. Her experience has enabled her to develop trusted relationships with senior executives, legal counsel, and compliance leaders across a broad range of industries.
In her role at Guidepost Solutions, Ms. Merrell works with clients and Guidepost professionals to align organizations with the firm’s investigative, compliance, and advisory capabilities in support of business objectives, risk mitigation efforts, and regulatory priorities. Her responsibilities include expanding relationships within the legal, corporate, and compliance communities, facilitating collaboration across practice areas, and helping organizations access the specialized expertise needed to address complex challenges.
Prior to joining Guidepost, Ms. Merrell held senior leadership positions within global professional services organizations specializing in investigations, disputes, compliance, forensic accounting, and legal consulting. She developed and executed growth strategies across multiple practice areas while working closely with multidisciplinary teams serving clients in highly regulated industries. Her experience included supporting organizations facing regulatory scrutiny, conducting business across multiple jurisdictions, and navigating evolving compliance and risk management requirements.
Throughout her career, Ms. Merrell has been instrumental in building relationships between professional services organizations and the legal, compliance, and corporate communities they serve. She established and led a global law firm channel that enhanced collaboration across international teams and strengthened engagement with clients managing complex cross-border matters. She has also contributed to learning & developments addressing the use of artificial intelligence in investigations and litigation.
Ms. Merrell holds a Master of Science in Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management (Finance) from Virginia Commonwealth University. She maintains professional certifications as an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Reveal Sales Professional, and Relativity Sales Professional. She is also an active member of the Women in White Collar Defense Association’s DC Chapter.
