Derrick Stoutamire

Derrick Stoutamire is a senior telecommunications and security engineer with 29 years of experience with Electronic Security Systems (ESS) engineering, communications design, low voltage infrastructure consulting, and project management. Mr. Stoutamire holds a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification, and maintains an active Secret security clearance, underscoring his capability to manage sensitive and high-level projects.

Prior to joining Guidepost, Mr. Stoutamire served as an independent consultant with his own firm, where he delivered expert services in low voltage design, engineering, and commissioning for telecommunications and security infrastructures. His extensive professional history includes leadership roles as a supervising designer and as a senior engineer for both telecommunications and security, respectively. Mr. Stoutamire provides technical oversight and quality assurance for complex low voltage systems.

Throughout his career, Mr. Stoutamire has successfully managed large-scale ESS projects for major government entities, including the National Security Agency (NSA), the U.S. Department of State (State Department), and the Army National Guard. He served as a project manager and engineer for significant initiatives, including the $500 million VAMC Orlando physical security design project and a comprehensive $1 million turnkey installation for the State Department.

In addition to his design capabilities, Mr. Stoutamire is a recognized subject matter expert in fiber optics. He served as a fiber optic consultant on SONET ring backbone designs. Mr. Stoutamire’s technical proficiency is further demonstrated by his previous role as an instructor – he trained staff on fiber optic termination and fusion splicing for upgrades at the U.S. Capitol and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

Mr. Stoutamire is well versed in the design and specifications of various telecom product manufacturers (e.g., Panduit, Corning, CommScope, Hubbell, Leviton, Legrand). He maintains affiliations with professional organizations including BICSI and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Mr. Stoutamire has contributed an article for publication in the “Cabling Installation & Maintenance” trade publication.
