Brian Kim is a managing director in Guidepost Solutions’ Data + Technology Advisory practice, with over 20 years of experience in data analytics.
At Guidepost, Mr. Kim directs data analytics, investigations, eDiscovery and compliance engagements for multinational corporations, government agencies, financial institutions, technology companies and nonprofit organizations. He leads technology driven processes for large scale investigations involving fraud, intellectual property theft, sanctions compliance, anti money laundering controls and misconduct allegations, often requiring the analysis of terabytes of structured and unstructured data. He has served on multiple regulatory monitorships and independent review matters, providing technology oversight, forensic analysis, data governance, compliance testing and investigative support for high profile organizations.
Prior to joining Guidepost, Mr. Kim worked as a professional services lead overseeing implementation of data discovery and remediation engagements. He also served as a director responsible for nationwide consulting operations, leading structured data analytics, forensics, information governance and eDiscovery consulting groups, and he provided consulting services for data analytics projects, including workflow and analysis development, budgeting and project management.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Kim served as a senior consultant overseeing implementation of the Clearwell eDiscovery platform for public and private sector clients, customizing platforms for efficiency and productivity. He assessed client infrastructure and eDiscovery practices to advise on best practices including legal hold, data collection and preservation, and production, and he developed customized workflows spanning legal hold through production. He managed and led teams of consultants on civil litigation as well as SEC, DOJ and internal investigations, and developed and facilitated litigation and investigative processes for corporate internal investigations in response to FCC, SEC and DOJ inquiries.
