Cook brings decades of cross-border investigative, AML/BSA, sanctions, anti-corruption and regulatory compliance experience across 30 countries.
Guidepost Solutions, a global leader in domestic and international investigations, compliance solutions, monitoring, and security consulting, today announced that Anthony “Tony” Cook has joined the firm’s Emerging Issues + Technology practice as a managing director. He will advise financial institutions, regulators, and global companies on financial crime, compliance, and cross-border regulatory matters, while helping the firm expand its international reach and strategic partnerships in key global markets.

Cook is a retired Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) special agent with more than 20 years of experience in financial crime, AML/BSA compliance, and multijurisdictional investigations. Most recently, he served as an IRS-CI regional attaché in London and the Middle East on diplomatic assignment representing the U.S. government, including as lead delegate to the OECD Task Force on Tax Crimes in Paris. Cook also chaired the Board of the Foreign Law Enforcement Community in the United Kingdom and regularly spoke on panels across the Middle East, including Qatar, Bahrain, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
Cook’s work has been recognized with the IRS-CI Chief’s Award and a Department of Justice Tax Division Award for dismantling a transnational money laundering operation. He holds a Top-Secret security clearance and is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
