The geopolitical instability in the South China Sea and the Red Sea is being seen as the cause of a rapid rise in cyber-attacks and cyber-assisted piracy on commercial shipping boats. Cyber Intelligence quoted Todd Doss in the ‘Cyber-Piracy on the High Seas’ article, providing insight into the latest incidents. According to Todd, “Over the past year, these risks have escalated notably. Reports indicate that cyber-attacks on maritime infrastructure and vessels increased by over 20% in 2023 compared to the previous year.”
