Hybrid Data Center

Guidepost Solutions, LLC was engaged to develop the Stage 2 Security Basis of Design Strategy for a hybrid data center in Central Turkey. The facility was intended to support the client’s internal business processing needs while also accommodating potential third-party users, making it a significant addition to Turkey’s existing data center capacity.

Because the client did not have internal security standards for its data center environment, Guidepost recommended and developed a Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment (TVRA). This assessment evaluated macro- and micro-level threats, site-specific conditions, master planning considerations, and design vulnerabilities, while also helping the client establish an appropriate risk appetite for the project.

Following the site visit and completion of the TVRA, Guidepost developed a project-specific Basis of Design (BOD) for all security elements, structured to remain flexible as the design phasing evolved. The BOD aligned with industry best practices for data center environments while also addressing unique project requirements, including an adjacent front-of-house facility operated by the client and intended to house certain staff on site for extended periods. Once the BOD was approved, Guidepost coordinated with the broader design team to produce the Stage 3 Design Package, including security device layouts, system diagrams, detailed references, device schedules, and a performance-based specification tailored to the project’s complexity, scalability, and enterprise-level requirements.
