Guidepost Solutions has supported a leading data center company across multiple projects in Africa, with locations including Nigeria, Rwanda, and Ghana. The scope of work has included development of design documentation, oversight of the tender process, delivery support, and final commissioning. Although the projects share common challenges—such as material procurement, compressed schedules, and varying levels of experience among local security providers—each also presents country-specific requirements related to design, operations, communication, and prior delivery conditions.
For each project, Guidepost was responsible for integrating the organization’s security standards into the design documentation process. This required close coordination with local operations teams in each country, multi-country design teams, and global security stakeholders to maintain consistency across the portfolio. During design development, Guidepost also reviewed the Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment (TVRA) prepared by a separate consultant to confirm that any security measures exceeding the organization’s baseline standards were properly aligned, approved, and incorporated into the design.
Once design was complete, the tender process became one of the most challenging phases of each project. In many of the countries involved, prospective firms had limited experience with the materials, systems, and technical complexity required for modern data center security environments. As a result, Guidepost led a continual review and reassessment of tender responses and held working sessions with security integrators to ensure that pricing, scope, and scheduling assumptions fully reflected the requirements of the project.
Delivery Oversight and Commissioning
After an integrator was selected, Guidepost’s delivery oversight role began for each project. The team monitored material receipt, tracked project milestones, and reviewed implementation quality to help ensure that installation aligned with data center security best practices. Guidepost also supported commissioning activities to confirm effective system delivery and coordinated closely with the global systems programming team to promote a smooth transition into operation.
