Schwartz Recognized Among Leaders Dedicated to Safeguarding New York’s People and Institutions
Guidepost Solutions, a global leader in domestic and international investigations, compliance solutions, monitoring, and security and technology consulting, today announced that its Chairman and Co-Founder, Bart M. Schwartz, has been named to City & State New York’s inaugural Above & Beyond: Protecting New York list.
Schwartz is recognized for a career spanning more than three decades at the intersection of law enforcement, compliance, and institutional reform. A former Chief of the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), he has managed sensitive and complex matters for government agencies, international corporations, and nonprofits, bringing prosecutorial experience and institutional credibility to complex engagements on behalf of clients worldwide.

Schwartz. “I’ve spent my career working on some of New York’s most complex accountability challenges, and this recognition reflects the extraordinary teams I’ve been fortunate to work with: investigators, compliance officers, monitors, and public servants who hold institutions accountable every day. New York’s safety and integrity depend on their work.”
Among Schwartz’s most significant contributions to New York, he served as the first federal monitor of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) from February 2019 to February 2024, one of the most comprehensive public housing oversight initiatives in the nation’s history. His five-year tenure drew on deep investigative and compliance expertise to drive accountability and transparency across the agency, and in February 2026 he testified before the U.S. House Financial Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, presenting findings and recommendations on restoring trust in public housing.
Beyond his professional role, Schwartz serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Police Athletic League of New York City (PAL), where he works closely with the organization’s executive director to advance its mission and programs serving young New Yorkers. He serves on the Board of the Stuyvesant High School Alumni Association where he has been the sole sponsor of students’ college test fees for several years. As a past Chair of The All Stars Project New York Board and past member of its national Board, Schwartz championed and advocated for its award-winning Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids program. He also worked with ECPAT, a human trafficking awareness organization, and the New York City Police Department to better identify trafficking victims.
For the first time, City & State New York is honoring individuals, businesses, agencies, and organizations dedicated to protecting New York and supporting government operations. The list recognizes leaders in cybersecurity, first response, law enforcement, infrastructure, intelligence, and public service who work across every level of government and industry to keep the state safe, secure, and running smoothly.
