City & State New York Recognizes Bart M. Schwartz for Helping Define New York’s Leadership Landscape in Technology
Bart M. Schwartz, Co-Founder and Chairman of Guidepost Solutions, a global leader in domestic and international investigations, compliance solutions, monitoring, and security and technology consulting, has been named a Hall of Fame Individual Honoree in the Technology category by City & State New York, as part of the publication’s 20th Anniversary celebration. Schwartz is one of 36 individuals, organizations, and companies being recognized across 12 categories in City & State’s “Hall of Fame: 20 Years of Impact in New York” list, honoring those whose achievements have helped define New York over the past two decades.
“It is an honor to be recognized alongside so many individuals and organizations who have shaped New York over the last 20 years,” said Schwartz. “This recognition reflects the enduring importance of integrity, accountability, and principled leadership in both the public and private sectors. It is also a tribute to the exceptional team at Guidepost Solutions, whose expertise and commitment to helping clients navigate complex risks and challenges have been central to our success.”
Under Schwartz’s leadership, Guidepost Solutions has significantly grown its Emerging Issues and Technology group. The practice was built on the early recognition that rapidly evolving technologies would create new risks, regulatory challenges, and opportunities for misconduct, ones that traditional investigative and compliance approaches were not designed to address. In addition, the firm recently expanded its Data & Technology Advisory practice in response to growing client demand across data analytics, cybersecurity, eDiscovery, digital forensics, information governance, financial technology crime consulting, and artificial intelligence governance.
Throughout his long and distinguished career, Schwartz has helped drive meaningful change within private organizations, government agencies, and not-for-profits by implementing sustainable compliance procedures and fostering a culture of ethical behavior. He is a former Chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
Beyond his professional role, Schwartz serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Police Athletic League of New York City (PAL), where he works closely with the organization’s executive director to advance its mission and programs serving young New Yorkers. He serves on the Board of the Stuyvesant High School Alumni Association where he has been the sole sponsor of students’ college test fees for several years. As a past Chair of The All Stars Project New York Board and past member of its national Board, Schwartz championed and advocated for its award-winning Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids program. He also worked with ECPAT, a human trafficking awareness organization, and the New York City Police Department to better identify trafficking victims. This October, he will be honored as a Gotham Great by Citizens Union, a highly respected nonpartisan good government organization.
Schwartz and the rest of the City & State honorees will be celebrated during a gala event at Dramma Times Square on September 29, 2026, featuring keynote speaker Gov. Hochul, New York Attorney General Letitia James, New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin, City & State Publisher and General Manager Tom Allon, and other civic and business leaders.
