Thomas A. McShane oversees the Monitoring and Investigations practice for Guidepost Solutions and leads the firm’s New York office.  During his tenure at Guidepost Solutions and its predecessor firm, Mr. McShane has directed complex investigations into allegations of corrupt practices by the management of corporations in the entertainment, healthcare, media and industrial products fields and has spearheaded the development of the firm’s Integrity Monitorship Program under which Guidepost Solutions has been retained on behalf of  government  authorities to monitor major capital construction projects and private entities, including in the construction, health care, financial, real estate management and retail services industries.

Mr. McShane has worked with numerous governmental and quasi-governmental authorities, including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Federal Highway Administration, the Department of the Treasury of the State of New Jersey, the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of the State of New York, the Department of Investigation of the City of New York, the Business Integrity Commission of the City of New York, and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.

Mr. McShane began his career as a prosecutor in the Office of the Nassau County District Attorney where he specialized in the investigation and prosecution of public corruption.  He later served as counsel to the New York State Commission on Government Integrity, a blue-ribbon commission created by the Governor of New York to investigate the roots of corruption in the institutions of government throughout the State.  In that capacity, he designed and implemented investigative strategies and supervised the commission’s team of forensic auditors and investigators in broad-ranging investigations of government practices.

Mr. McShane later served as Chief Counsel to a successor commission, the New York State Temporary Commission on Local Government Ethics. In that role, he supervised the Commission’s investigative and legal staff in a statewide audit of the ethics procedures and practices of municipal government.  He provided counsel and guidance to municipalities regarding the creation of codes of ethics crafted to eliminate corrupt practices and to strengthen public confidence in the integrity of government.

Prior to joining Guidepost Solutions, Mr. McShane was a partner in the New York City law firm of McKeegan, McShane & Drago, PC, where he specialized in the representation of individual and commercial clients in all aspects of civil litigation, including trials and appeals.

Mr. McShane served for ten years as Chairman of the Westchester County Solid Waste Commission, an entity charged with responsibility for regulating the carting industry in Westchester County.
