Chad Medaris is a managing director in the Guidepost Solutions DEA Regulatory Compliance practice area. Mr. Medaris had previously served as a special agent with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Office of Criminal Investigations. He conducted significant domestic and international criminal investigations involving violations of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, including cases related to adulterated foods and drugs, counterfeit pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. Mr. Medaris led large-scale enforcement operations, and managed complex money laundering investigations that resulted in the seizure and asset forfeiture of millions of dollars. Additionally, he routinely participated in plea negotiations and provided testimony at trials and grand jury proceedings to assist government attorneys in case resolutions.
Prior to his service with the FDA, Mr. Medaris worked as a special agent for the Office of Personnel Management – Office of Inspector General where he was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Healthcare Fraud Task Force. He led teams of law enforcement professionals investigating criminal violations such as healthcare fraud, identity theft, and elder abuse. Mr. Medaris also conducted investigations involving opioid distribution, pharmaceutical prescription fraud, the False Claims Act, and the U.S. Anti-Kickback Statute.
Mr. Medaris completed the criminal investigator training program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. He maintained Top Secret clearance for more than 20 years, which he still holds. Mr. Medaris has been highly decorated for his achievements, receiving awards from numerous government agencies including the FBI, the FDA, the Northern District of Texas U.S. Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
