Yohir Akerman is President of the LATAM region at Guidepost Solutions, where he oversees operations across key offices in Mexico, Colombia, and Miami. He is an experienced investigator with a strong track record uncovering fraud, corruption, and misconduct for public and private sector clients, and advising them on litigation strategy, crisis response, and compliance risks across the region.

In 2025, Mr. Akerman was recognized by Leaders League as an Expert in Peru for his work in litigation support, forensics, and complex investigations. He has also served as a featured speaker at the International Bar Association, on cybersecurity attacks in Latin America and strategic planning in complex cross-border investigations.

Mr. Akerman was one of the leading field investigators in the Chevron case related to environmental litigation in Ecuador, at the time, the largest legal case in the world, with $19 billion at stake. His investigative work was instrumental in identifying the key witness who revealed the judicial fraud orchestrated against Chevron, exposing fabricated evidence and misconduct that ultimately changed the course of the case.

Mr. Akerman leads sensitive investigations involving government corruption, corporate fraud, and judicial interference in Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, and the United States. Notably, he uncovered a multi-million-dollar fraud at one of the largest automotive parts manufacturers in Mexico and Central America, where employees were siphoning company funds. He also conducts asset tracing and recovery efforts across Venezuela, Ecuador, and Florida He successfully identified millions in concealed assets later pursued through civil litigation.

Mr. Akerman has led litigation support investigations tied to court corruption in Latin America. He supported counsel in revealing a judicial bribery scheme involving falsified judgments written by plaintiffs themselves, resulting in local media coverage and institutional review.

Prior to joining Guidepost Solutions, Mr. Akerman served as a managing partner at Custom Information Services, an investigative firm focused on the Latin American region and later acquired by Guidepost Solutions in 2019. Previously, he was a senior case manager for a global investigations firm, handling high stakes matters.
Mr. Akerman is a lawyer and political scientist by training, with additional studies in economics. He began his career as an investigative journalist in Colombia, serving as Editor-at-Large for Poder magazine. He led editorial operations for seven regional editions published in partnership with Televisa. He remains an active contributor to public discourse as a columnist for Cambio Magazine, is frequently quoted in the Inter-American Dialogue, and is an awarded investigative journalist in Colombia.
