Alistair Thompson is an Associate Director in Guidepost’s Miami office. He brings six years of experience in research, investigations, and data analysis.

Prior to joining Guidepost, Mr. Thompson served with the U.S. Department of Justice where he contributed to various international and local drug trafficking investigations. In a separate stint with the Department of Justice he participated in violent crime investigations, gang intelligence research and fugitive data analysis. He was a member of a multi-agency task force that solved a 40-year-old serial killer cold case.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Thompson worked as a journalist. His field investigative background began as a teenager, working the crime beat covering gang activity and homicides for a local newspaper. He later worked as an editor for several small publications and added a stint with a journalism group that covers organized crime in Latin America.

Mr. Thompson also spent two years in Colombia working in a government education program and then later with a startup company. While in country he covered Colombia’s 2016 peace agreement, interviewing former soldiers, displaced persons, and ordinary citizen voters.

During his personal time, Alistair volunteers at animal shelters, specializing in Pit Bull dog training.
