Oakland County, Michigan

Guidepost was selected by the Oakland County government to provide a comprehensive After Action Report (AAR) evaluating the multi-agency response and recovery effort during and in the aftermath of the Oxford High School (OHS) shooting on November 30, 2021, which took the lives of four students and injured another six students and one teacher. Although Guidepost previously reviewed certain aspects of the OHS shooting, the AAR was focused primarily on the effectiveness of the response by first responders, including but not limited to law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, crisis counseling, and mental health coordinators.  The AAR evaluated command and coordination, communications including 9-1-1 operations, interagency information sharing recovery efforts, including those involving the mental health of the community and first responders, and strengths and weaknesses in protocols, policies, procedures, as well as training within all relevant first responder and governmental entities.
