Andrea Perez has more than 15 years of experience as a senior regulatory examiner analyzing the effectiveness of compliance programs within state-chartered financial institutions. She is highly proficient in state and federal compliance banking regulations; collaborating with federal agencies; and providing detailed written analysis of compliance-oriented evaluations. Ms. Perez is well-versed in lending regulations including the Homeowner’s Protection Act, Truth-in-Lending Act, and the Community Reinvestment Act; as well as deposit and retail regulations; privacy laws; and Dodd-Frank.
Most recently, Ms. Perez spent 17 years with the Massachusetts Division of Banks (DOB) primarily serving in examiner-in-charge roles. As a supervisory examiner of Compliance and Community Affairs, she worked closely with Boards of Directors and executive management at large, complex depository institutions ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. She evaluated their compliance support systems effectiveness; determined their risk profile; and provided recommendations and preventative measures to limit risk exposure.
During her time with the DOB, Ms. Perez also worked with small-intermediate sized depository institutions determining compliance with laws, rules and regulations and assisted with special assignments that impacted or influenced other DOB units including broker, licensee, and fraud-based investigations. She began her tenure as a senior examiner assisting with compliance reviews; conferring on violations; editing reports; and assisting with complaint resolution for complaints initiated by the general public of a state-chartered depository institution.
