Richard P. Sullivan has four decades of experience in law enforcement, internal/external enterprise risk, and global investigations in both the private and public sectors.
Mr. Sullivan rejoined Guidepost after spending 11 years as executive director and global head of investigations at JPMorgan Chase where he oversaw complex domestic and global investigations relating to financial crimes, internal/external fraud matters, electronic crimes, and other incidents impacting the institution. He was responsible for collecting and documenting evidence, identifying suspects, conducting interviews, and performing root cause analyses. During his tenure, Mr. Sullivan developed and launched its construction monitoring group, which oversees all the institution’s global projects.
Mr. Sullivan spent five years with the New York City Department of Investigation (DOI), which provides oversight of the city’s 300+ agencies and 300,000 employees. As deputy commissioner, he spearheaded investigations involving fraud, corruption, mismanagement, and other unethical behavior. He was credited with DOI’s recovery of over $20M in misappropriated city dollars over his tenure. Mr. Sullivan was also responsible for oversight of background investigations conducted in connection with the city’s new hires and with its prospective corporate partners.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Sullivan was a general claims agent with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Long Island Railroad and oversaw the Claims Bureau, which conducts investigations into wrongful death, death, bodily injury, and property damage claims.
Mr. Sullivan began his career with the New York City Police Department, retiring as a first-grade detective.
Throughout his career, Mr. Sullivan was honored with numerous awards including the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Award and three Department. of Justice Awards for Public Service.
