Michael King brings over 33 years of expertise in security management to his role as associate vice president at Guidepost. Widely recognized as a strategic visionary and technology solutions architect, he excels in governance and ethics, stakeholder engagement, and cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset as a program solutions leader. His leadership has consistently driven success across multidisciplinary teams and complex, large-scale projects.
Mr. King specializes in physical security design, technical implementation, and project management. In prior consulting roles, he provided subject-matter expertise in developing procurement documentation, design, and secure communications strategies for integrated security systems including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, blast protection, and screening technologies. He has led the planning, design, and deployment of these systems across diverse environments such as federal courthouses, data centers, SCIFs, tactical operations centers, and critical government infrastructure. His work also includes technical design reviews of architectural and engineering drawings to embed layered security directly into facility plans.
A significant portion of Mr. King’s career has focused on risk and compliance management. He conducts threat, risk, and vulnerability assessments, delivering tailored mitigation strategies aligned with each client’s operational needs. His security programs consistently meet rigorous government standards, including FedRAMP and GovRAMP, and comply with NIST SP 800-53 controls, often resulting in successful program authorizations. He also has led investigations into employee misconduct and ensures regulatory compliance with FINRA, FDIC, and other oversight bodies.
Before joining Guidepost, Mr. King served as a managing consultant in the Defense & National Security sector, where he led geographically dispersed teams within security technology operations. His credentials include ASIS International’s Certified Protection Professional (CPP®), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI®), and Physical Security Professional (PSP®) designations, as well as ISACA’s Certified Information Security Manager (CISM®) certification. He is an active contributor to the industry, currently serving as a director on the ASIS International Professional Certification Board and as a member of the Energy Security Council and ISACA.
