Matt Peters is an accomplished security management professional with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. In his role at Guidepost Solutions, he calls upon his experience during his career with the New York Police Department to develop risk mitigation and protective security strategies for ultra-high net worth individuals and enterprise clients.
Mr. Peters leads international teams on a wide array of complex protective service matters, including:
- Developed the international Executive Protection program for Guidepost by leveraging internal resources and vetted global partners. This program includes armed agents, security drivers, and comprehensive logistical support. Engagements range from providing one-day support for an executive attending a board meeting to deploying a 50-person security team for a royal family member’s wedding.
- Assess and create the crisis management and emergency evacuation plans for at risk clients. Implement operations globally as needed. Examples include quickly evacuating fifteen individuals from Tel Aviv during the onset of the Israeli conflict in October 2023 and providing armed convoys from Mexico City to Acapulco to deliver necessities to 30 clients after the city was devastated by a Category 5 hurricane.
- Develop Independent Security Studies for CEOs, Managing Directors, and other C-Suite executives under the parameters of IRS Code 26, Section 132. These studies focus on a holistic assessment of risk to these individuals.
- Manage complex multinational investigations with oversight over entire team. These investigations may focus on cyber-related issues, due diligence engagements, threat assessments, or law enforcement liaison work.
Immediately preceding his work with Guidepost, Mr. Peters was the vice president for a well-known firm specializing in executive protection for ultra-high net worth individuals. In this role, he crafted customized security programs for clients and established protective assignments throughout the world.
Mr. Peters’ law enforcement career culminated with a five-year assignment to the prestigious FBI/NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force in New York City. He directed a group of more than 125 senior investigators handling critical threats, terrorism financing and cybersecurity on an international basis. Other assignments within the NYPD involved significant time spent within the narcotics division and various special operations teams.
Upon retiring from the NYPD, Mr. Peters was a founder and equity partner in the Paladin Center, a nationally recognized homeland security training center, which catered to elite units within the Department of Defense and regional law enforcement agencies. He then went on to manage the regional office for a large security provider, where he had full P&L responsibility for a 720-member guard force in the New York Tri-State area.
