Christopher A. Arkin has extensive experience working with clients in connection with sensitive and high-stakes regulatory matters, internal investigations, and criminal and civil litigation. He has represented global companies, financial institutions, boards, executives, and directors involving a wide variety of substantive issues and areas of the law, including anti-bribery and corruption, securities and financial fraud, environmental and safety-related laws, and corporate governance. He has conducted investigations and other assessments in Latin America, Asia, Africa, and throughout the United States.

Mr. Arkin’s background also includes developing, implementing, and enhancing compliance programs across a range of countries and industries, including financial services, automotive, utilities, and real estate.

Prior to joining Guidepost Solutions, Mr. Arkin practiced law at two prominent New York law firms. He was an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, working in the firm’s Corporate Governance & Investigations and Litigation practice groups. He also was an associate at Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello PC, focusing on complex criminal, civil, and regulatory matters and investigations.

While many of Mr. Arkin’s matters are not public, some of his past representations include:

  • The DOJ-appointed Independent Monitor of Toyota as part of a three-year monitorship focusing on vehicle safety and the accuracy of the company’s public statements;
  • Wal-Mart’s Audit Committee in an extensive investigation by the SEC and DOJ into the company’s global FCPA compliance and allegations of corruption;
  • A leading financial services institution in various securities-related regulatory matters, to include internal investigations and inquiries by governmental authorities;
  • A high-profile executive and director of a public company in a government enforcement action and related litigation involving allegations of market manipulation; and
  • A multinational corporation in connection with anti-bribery and corruption diligence for M&A and other investments and the implementation of effective post-acquisition compliance programs.

Mr. Arkin graduated magna cum laude from Tulane University Law School, where he served as managing editor of the Sports Lawyers Journal. He externed for the Honorable Helen G. Berrigan of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and the Honorable Kim G. Dunning of the Superior Court of California.
