Associate Director

Sunny Lee is a member of the Immigration and Border Services, Monitoring, Compliance, and Investigations practices. Ms. Lee has over 20 years of experience working within practice areas including corporate immigration, visa consulting, immigration benefits support services, I-9 compliance, federal financial systems analysis, international and domestic adoptions, social services and post adoption services, and internal audits of adoption agencies. She is licensed to practice law in the state of Maryland and has training in trauma-informed practices.

Ms. Lee’s experience includes working for America World Adoption Association, serving as the director and assistant director of social services for the states of Maryland and Virginia respectively. There she oversaw and directed all social services operations in Maryland and Virginia, including ensuring the agency met the state governing requirements for licensing. She assisted over 400 clients through the adoption process domestically, and from 40 countries around the world. Her duties included advising on state, federal and international adoption processes, mitigating various social services issues, completing post adoption processes, and conducting internal audits and reviews in preparation for state and federal licensing. Ms. Lee conducted presentations and trainings to clients and faith institutions regarding core training competencies of international adoption and managed agency administration, budgeting, and other related activities. She also hired, trained, and supervised a network of social workers throughout Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey to conduct home studies for adoption and post placement supervision.

Ms. Lee has many years of experience as a corporate immigration attorney for global immigration law firms in the Washington D.C. area. Her expertise is in preparing immigration cases and filing visa petitions for corporate clients. She has advised clients on immigration procedures and changes in immigration policies due to COVID-19, I-9 compliance, internal processes to help clients comply with immigration laws and regulations, religious immigration, international student visa programs, and B, H, L, O, F, EB-5, adjustment of status and naturalization cases. Ms. Lee prepared appeals and responses to request for evidence notices from Consulates and USCIS. She also conducted immigration trainings for employers and beneficiaries. Her clients included major software, management consulting, healthcare, construction materials and engineering corporations.

Ms. Lee previously worked as a business analyst for a federal government contracting firm, resolving issues concerning general ledgers, budget execution, recaptures of money, automated disbursements, and financial reporting related to the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s customized federal financial system software, and developed design documents for software enhancements.
