Betsy Smith provides timely and critical information to K-12 and higher education institutions related to Title IX and other compliance related matters. She has served as both a student affairs professional and an Assistant District Attorney.  Betsy also serves as a Senior Investigator and Consultant with Institutional Compliance Solutions, a role she has held since October 2019.

Previously, Ms. Smith spent five years as Director of Student Conduct and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at the University of Tennessee where she conducted and oversaw thousands of Title IX and other campus investigations.

The combination of Ms. Smith’s familiarity with campus life, Title IX, and her background as prosecutor provides for a distinct, trauma informed, approach to her investigations. She also specializes in the use and presentation of data to perform an institution’s prevention and response efforts related to sexual misconduct.

Before joining the University of Tennessee, Ms. Smith was an Assistant District Attorney in Maryville, Tennessee.
