Alistair Thompson

Senior Analyst

Alistair Thompson is a Senior Analyst in Guidepost’s Miami office. He brings six years of experience in research, investigations, and data analysis.

Mr. Thompson served with the U.S. Department of Justice as an investigator. There he interviewed suspects, gathered, and analyzed intelligence information to guarantee compliance and supported multiple international drug trafficking investigations. He also served as an Honors Intern in connection to the Department of Justice, where he assisted Special Agents in violent crime investigations, gang intelligence research and fugitive data analysis. He was a member of a task force that solved a 40-year-old serial killer cold case.

Early in his career, Mr. Thompson worked as a journalist. His field investigative background began as a teenager, working the crime beat covering gang activity and homicides for a local newspaper. That experience in addition to various college internships and editor roles at small newspapers, taught Mr. Thompson the fundamentals of interviewing, field reporting, data analysis and intelligence collection.

Mr. Thompson also spent two years in Colombia working in a government education program, in connection with a startup company. There, he also worked as a journalist covering organized crime groups operating across Latin America. Notably, he covered Colombia’s 2016 peace agreement, interviewing former soldiers, displaced persons, and regular citizen voters.

Prior to joining Guidepost Solutions, Mr. Thompson was an English teacher at the Center for Cultural Language Studies in Miami, FL.
