Guidepost Solutions, a global leader in compliance, investigations, and security consulting, today announced the hiring of Scot R. Rittenberg as a managing director in the Immigration and Border Services practice.

“With the arrival of the Biden administration, we are likely to see a different approach from government regulators. Scot will be a valued resource for our clients as they work to mitigate potential risks and successfully navigate regulatory challenges,” said Julie Myers Wood, CEO, Guidepost Solutions. “His experience expands the capabilities of our very adept team.”

Rittenberg retired as a special agent from the Department of Homeland Security after 32 years. Prior to the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security, he was a special agent with the United States Customs Service. Rittenberg served as the second in command of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office (ICE) of Professional Responsibility (OPR). During his tenure, OPR created and implemented an expedited contractor preliminary clearance process for critical agency contracts; developed and implemented the agency’s Insider Threat Program that successfully identified individuals attempting to exploit both physical and logical access vulnerabilities; established a threat management process due to increased threats to ICE’s senior officials and employees; and increased the success rate of timely and thorough misconduct investigations.

Immediately prior to joining Guidepost, Rittenberg operated his own consulting firm, MSBS LLC, where he provided specialized services related to security, investigations, and compliance to government and industry clientele.

Rittenberg has extensive experience in border security; smuggling; intellectual property rights; national security matters; money laundering and transnational criminal organizations. His assignments included land borders, international airports, and seaports. In 2015, Rittenberg received the Department of Homeland Security Secretary’s Award for Excellence due to his work on the Secret Service Review Team examining the circumstances surrounding an intrusion into the White House.

Rittenberg holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Northeastern University. He is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a private investigator.
