Guidepost Solutions served as the Independent Compliance Consultant to a public utility pursuant to government enforcement action. The engagement required Guidepost to review and confirm the efficacy of recent programmatic compliance changes and remediation efforts undertaken by the company. Structured as a collaborative partnership, the consultancy focused on evaluating the current compliance program to provide strategies for building upon the compliance foundation the company had already established. The scope involved a nine-month, multi-stage assessment, beginning with extensive information gathering and preliminary understanding, including the review of compliance policies, reports, and risk assessments. Guidepost also conducted targeted stakeholder interviews to capture a full view of the company’s business activities, operations, third-party engagements, and employee integration of compliance practices. The assessment was guided by questions concerning whether the program was well-designed, adequately resourced based on risk, and supported by a strong ethics and compliance culture that works in practice. The engagement concluded with a final report documenting findings, identifying program strengths, and providing specific recommendations for continued program enhancement and maturation.
