Sean Ervin

Senior Managing Director, Sports Entertainment + Government Affairs

Mr. Sean Ervin serves as a senior managing director at Guidepost Solutions, bringing over 28 years of federal law enforcement and executive leadership experience to the firm. He works primarily with sports, entertainment, government, and private clients to customize solutions to complex challenges, and is the primary law enforcement and government liaison for many Guidepost clients. Mr. Ervin leverages his extensive experience across a variety of executive roles in federal law enforcement to further our clients’ strategic interests. He also supports Guidepost’s clients in a variety of sectors that require physical security, investigative, and compliance-related expertise and advice.

His career has been marked by high-level strategic, operational, and tactical leadership roles with a focus on public safety, enforcement operations, and organizational transformation within the Department of Homeland Security.

Mr. Ervin has directed large, multi-disciplinary teams and managed complex enforcement and removal programs across diverse jurisdictions. He has overseen operations spanning multiple states and judicial districts, while supervising hundreds of personnel and managing significant multimillion-dollar budgets. His work included oversight of high-capacity detention operations and programs that required precise logistical coordination and interagency collaboration.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ervin led initiatives that improved law enforcement efficiency, personnel training, and stakeholder engagement. He developed and implemented training programs tailored to enforcement professionals, enhanced cooperation between federal and local agencies, and advanced community outreach strategies that supported mission transparency and public understanding.

In advisory and chief of staff roles, Mr. Ervin regularly provided guidance to senior executives and policymakers. He liaised with leadership across federal agencies, contributed to interdepartmental policy development, and prepared high-level briefings and legislative materials on homeland security matters. His responsibilities frequently extended to supporting executive leadership at the national level, where he coordinated operations and policy decisions with strategic impact.

Mr. Ervin’s extensive experience also includes leading field operations during national migration surges, developing policy and procedural responses under crisis conditions, and spearheading high-priority initiatives on behalf of agency headquarters. His operational acumen and ability to navigate politically sensitive environments have made him a trusted advisor and leader in law enforcement and homeland security operations.

Mr. Ervin’s high level of expeience and understanding of ICE’s enforcement mission and his keen ability to socialize the operational aspects of that mission have made him highly sought after for policy and operational development projects. Mr. Ervin has been called upon to assist and consult working groups through multiple administrations and continues to be highly sought after post-government retirement.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Maryland, College Park, and has completed a wide range of specialized training in leadership, emergency management, and enforcement operations.

As the son of a U.S Government employee serving abroad, Sean spent almost his entire childhood overseas. He lived and attended school in Tunisia, The Philippines, Egypt, and Thailand.
