Summary
The Digital Investigator role conducts research using various tools and methods to gather information from public records and digital footprints. It includes analyzing social media, performing web reconnaissance, and writing detailed reports. Additionally, the job requires supporting compliance research, unmasking anonymous online identities, and assessing digital vulnerabilities to ensure online safety and security.

Core Responsibilities

  • Unmasking or attributing anonymous online identities

  • Conducting open-source research using various tools, databases, and manual methods

  • Discovering digital footprints through both manual and tool-based methods
  • Conducting basic web reconnaissance, including researching IP addresses and domains

Preferred Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline is often required.
  • Previous experience in conducting open-source research, public records research, and digital footprint discovery.
  • Experience in web reconnaissance, including researching IP addresses and domains, is essential.
  • Familiarity with social media analysis and the ability to extract valuable insights from digital platforms is important.
  • Strong report writing skills, with experience in creating detailed and comprehensive reports, are necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This position may require long hours.

Travel
Travel out-of-area to client sites may occur.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, much of the work may be done sitting at a desk, using a computer, typing, handling phone calls, filing, and using office equipment such as like printers and copiers.  The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Salary Range

The base annual salary range offered for this position is based on numerous factors, including job-related skills and knowledge, experience, specific location, relevant education and/or training. In addition to the annual salary, we offer a full benefits package.
