John S. Friedlander is a seasoned security and risk management professional with more than two decades of experience developing, implementing, and assessing security, emergency management and threat management programs and initiatives. He works closely with Fortune 100 clients in manufacturing, high technology, healthcare, finance, insurance, and real estate; as well as institutional clients in government, NGOs, academia, non-profit and religious sectors.
Mr. Friedlander has been a trusted advisor to C-suite executives and boards, known for his ability to identify and mitigate complex risk exposures. His leadership has driven cost savings, operational efficiencies, and enhanced resilience through innovative security strategies and technologies. Notably, he served as a security consultant for the United Nations Capital Master Plan, contributing to the design and integration of security systems for the NYC campus.
Mr. Friedlander’s experience includes conducting security audits, developing and presenting security awareness trainings, and evaluating security systems, operations, and management. He leads threat assessment and threat management teams; and directs fire life safety planning and preparedness, emergency management, and continuity of operations.
Most recently, Mr. Friedlander was an associate managing director at a security risk management firm where he led international teams across the U.S. and Latin America, to deliver strategic solutions in physical security, threat management, and emergency preparedness.
Previously, Mr. Friedlander held senior roles at Jones Lang LaSalle, Global Security Risk Management, and Cushman & Wakefield, where he developed enterprise-wide security programs, managed crisis response efforts, and conducted international threat assessments.
In addition to his corporate work, Mr. Friedlander is an adjunct lecturer at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he teaches graduate-level courses in security, fire, and emergency management. He has contributed to several industry publications and standards, including ASIS International’s “Physical Asset Protection Standard” and the City of Austin Police Department’s “Use of Force, Public Interactions, Recruitment, Selection and Promotions,” as well as the books “Involuntary Employment Separation & Termination Strategies” and “Security Operations Management.”.
