James Esbrook is a senior consultant at Guidepost Solutions. Mr. Esbrook is a seasoned security professional and military veteran with extensive experience in risk assessments, corporate security leadership, and the delivery of physical security systems. Mr. Esbrook brings deep expertise in business continuity, emergency management, and incident command systems to serve a diverse range of clients across the corporate, technology, government, and educational sectors.
Mr. Esbrook advises clients on physical security systems design, implementation, and commissioning, encompassing access control, video management, and alarm platforms. He manages consulting deliverables across all project phases, from schematic design and design development to construction documentation and administration. Mr. Esbrook handles complex security integrations, coordinates with architects and contractors, and develops comprehensive Request for Proposal (RFP) materials to support risk mitigation and facility security enhancements.
Prior to joining Guidepost, Mr. Esbrook held leadership and consulting roles within corporate security and engineering environments. His background included managing application engineering teams to deliver enterprise security, surveillance, and access control systems worldwide. He previously served as a senior security consultant for a major energy utility group, overseeing physical security operations, managing substantial capital and operations and maintenance (O&M) budgets, and consolidating monitoring efforts into a central Security Operations Center (SOC).
Throughout his career, Mr. Esbrook successfully led large-scale projects that improved situational awareness and yielded significant organizational cost savings. He developed lifecycle replacement programs for network video recorders. Additionally, Mr. Esbrook automated alarm and video management at unmanned sites, significantly reducing the total cost of ownership while maintaining comprehensive security oversight. He also conducted extensive training for organizational leaders in National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocols and facilitated tabletop exercises for crisis resolution.
Mr. Esbrook studied Philosophy and Anthropology at Northeastern Illinois University. He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and a Physical Security Professional (PSP) through ASIS International. Additionally, Mr. Esbrook holds a Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) credential from ISC2.
