A leading U.S.-based technology company acquired a smaller Serbian technology firm as part of its strategy to expand its European footprint through a larger production and administrative facility. Guidepost was engaged to assess the client’s global security standards and develop a Basis of Design (BOD) that could be integrated into the design of the new facility. Because Serbian regulations require security design documentation to be prepared by a certified Serbian company and the final BOD to be reviewed and approved by a local consultant, the project required close coordination between global and local stakeholders from the outset.
Guidepost worked closely with the client’s U.S.-based global security team, the Serbian operations team, local design professionals, and designated Serbian security consultants to develop a narrative BOD and conceptual device layout that established an approved design approach. This level of alignment was especially important because local security organizations had limited experience implementing enterprise-scale, integrated security platforms, making early coordination essential to a successful outcome.
After the security design was approved by all parties, Guidepost shifted its focus to quality assurance and ongoing coordination as the building design continued to evolve. The team reviewed design documentation to confirm that all changes remained consistent with the approved BOD and served as the client’s primary representative in discussions with manufacturers, security integrators, and other project stakeholders. Guidepost continues to participate in delivery meetings and site visits with the client to monitor progress, track key milestones, and help ensure that the original design intent is translated into an effective operational solution. The team also oversees installation quality to confirm alignment with industry best practices. The project remains active, with final delivery currently expected in early 2027, and Guidepost’s scope has expanded over time in response to evolving client needs and schedule adjustments.
