Guidepost was engaged by a foster youth camp and non-profit organization to conduct an independent investigation into allegations of inappropriate communications between a volunteer and the organization’s Chief Executive Officer. As part of the investigation, Guidepost evaluated the adequacy of the organization’s initial internal assessment and response to the reported allegations. The assessment included conducting interviews with the CEO, the volunteer, organizational employees, board members, and other camp volunteers, as well as conducting a document review of existing policies, handbooks, and electronic communications. Guidepost provided the organization’s board with a formal report detailing findings of fact regarding the communications and the organizational response, along with comprehensive recommendations focusing on leadership accountability, camp safety protocols, policy enhancements, anonymous reporting channels, and organizational governance.
