Guidepost assisted with an internal investigation involving IP theft and violations that involved several key executives who had recently left the organization. The company assumed that its lead executive was retiring; however, as soon as this individual left the company, they emerged at a competitor with the intent to bring over existing clients and personnel to the new firm. Guidepost’s client requested a full internal investigation to determine which documents were taken and how personnel and clients were contacted and persuaded. Guidepost then assisted counsel with a complete background investigation of departed staff and worked with corporate IT to forensically collect emails, laptops, phone records, and mobile devices. Guidepost shared contact tracing results and identified vital documents and parties involved. The reported findings also included permutations of contracts, price lists, client sheets, and dates of when files were transferred, accessed, and copied.
