With over 25 years of distinguished service with the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Todd Zimmerman is one of the nation’s foremost experts in risk management, corporate security, and transnational criminal investigations. He is known for mitigating global threats and delivering results in the most complex and sensitive environments. At Guidepost Solutions, he works on client matters involving domestic and cross border investigations, security consulting, threat assessments, due diligence, and risk and compliance services.
Most recently, Mr. Zimmerman led operations as the Special Agent in Charge of the North & Central America Division for the DEA at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. He oversaw high-stakes investigations, security operations, and managed risks across 31 states in Mexico and the Capital District of Mexico City, seven countries in Central America to include Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Belize, as well as ten provinces and three territories in Canada. He has held multiple senior executive service roles within the DEA, including Special Agent in Charge of the St. Louis Division and Deputy Special Agent in Charge of the Houston Division.
Throughout his career, Mr. Zimmerman has consistently delivered transformative results in some of the DEA’s most critical and complex assignments. This includes implementing advanced threat mitigation strategies, leading more than 200 personnel in multinational investigations, and strengthening international collaboration with more than 80 police delegates from 25 countries. In a previous assignment as the DEA’s Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Bogotá Country Office, he oversaw investigations and managed risks in 26 of the 32 departments in Colombia. Mr. Zimmerman also directed elite teams in dismantling major criminal syndicates, as well as the prosecution of corrupt foreign officials. He has spent ten years living and working in Latin America during his DEA career, which allowed him to forge strong lasting partnerships.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Zimmerman was a Section Chief, and he oversaw the global Special Investigations Unit program at the DEA headquarters where he managed 800 foreign law enforcement professionals across 13 countries. He was also an inspector of internal investigations at the DEA Office of Professional Responsibility where he audited and led sensitive workplace investigations of incidences of harassment, noncompliance, and ethics violations.
Mr. Zimmerman has received numerous honors, including the 2024 Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service, multiple DEA Administrator’s Awards, and distinguished service medals from both the Colombian Army and National Police.
Mr. Zimmerman holds a Top Secret/SCI security clearance and is proficient in Spanish.
