A philanthropist retained Guidepost to investigate a foreign non-profit to which they annually donated a six-figure sum. Research on the US-based principal of the entity revealed he did not have any background in non-profit work, nor the country where the non-profit was operating. Additionally, a review of official government records in the foreign country could not prove the entity existed. However, a site-visit to the rural location observed that the facility was in operation and had been for several years. Guidepost conducted discreet interviews with former employees and purported partners of this non-profit to determine its source and use of funds, connection to the US-based principal, and well-being of those the non-profit served.
