Valon Xharra is an accomplished security management professional with experience in both the public and private sectors. He is a focused thought leader with expertise spanning security business consulting, enterprise risk management, due diligence, commercial strategic planning. In his role at Guidepost, Mr. Xharra works closely with ultra-high net worth individuals and enterprise clients to develop risk mitigation, crisis management, threat assessments and security strategies. He has a proven talent for aligning enterprise-wide risk management programs with overall business strategies and objectives.
Prior to joining Guidepost, Mr. Xharra was Senior Vice President at Gavin de Becker and Associates, a security and consulting firm working with some of the world’s most prominent individuals and corporations. He established and led the company’s commercial strategy on providing enterprise risk management services, reputational and operational risks for Fortune 500 companies. He created comprehensive security and safety programs for dozens of multi-million-dollar companies in the U.S. and delivered tabletop trainings on threat mitigation and enterprise crisis management. Mr. Xharra was also a Managing Director at Control Risks on the West Coast where he created crisis management and security programs and delivered trainings to multinational corporations.
Mr. Xharra began his career performing in depth risk analysis and due diligence assessments, identifying potential threats to foreign businesses in Eastern Europe, and recommending key strategies for foreign investments in Eastern Europe. He had a specific expertise and emphasis on compliance standards and best practices for businesses operating in the Balkans. Mr. Xharra also worked at the United States Embassy in Kosovo, serving as advisor to top US diplomats and ambassadors.
Mr. Xharra is fluent in English, Albanian, Serbo-Croatian, and speaks intermediate German and Spanish
